Little Golden Books

Tootle the Train is a classic Little Golden Book about Tootle, a young train in train school.  When Tootle discovers a place where he can get off the tracks, he does.  His error is discovered and the townspeople get together to flag Tootle back onto the track.  Tootle learns his lesson (Never, ever go off the track) and he becomes a role model for young trains at the train school.
